Have you seen (one) who takes (as) his god his own desire? Then would you be over him a guardian?
View 80 More Translations ↓Hast thou ever considered [the kind of man] who makes his own desires his deity? Couldst thou, then, [O Prophet,] be held responsible for him
Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them
Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him
أَرَءَیۡتَ مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَـٰهَهُۥ هَوَىٰهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَیۡهِ وَكِیلًا ٤٣
ara-ayta mani ittakhadha ilāhahu hawāhu afa-anta takūnu ʿalayhi wakīla
